About The Conference

This Conference is designed for anyone involved with 7×24 infrastructures – IT, data center, disaster recovery and network/ telecommunication managers, computer technologists, facility or building managers, supervisors and engineers.

The 7×24 Exchange Central Virginia Chapter mission is to provide an open educational forum dedicated to the continuous improvement and increased awareness of mission critical and data center reliability focusing on the key disciplines of design, construction, maintenance, security and management with the goal of obtaining continuous mission critical and data center operations.

This forum consists of networking and presentation opportunities for its members at regularly scheduled events. The chapter also encourages the mentoring of students whom have an interest in learning more about the mission critical space / data center space.

7x24 Exchange International Central Virginia Scholarship

As you are aware our fundraising this year was dedicated to initiating both a scholarship program as well as build the foundation for an internship program in 2021. It is with much pride that we announce that our Chapter has recently awarded our first Scholarships in partnership with the VCU School of Engineering. The recipients of the scholarships were selected by a team of VCU administrators and professors. Please take a moment to read the scholar profiles here.

We have been working hard to methodically build our chapter through great events and now we have integrated scholarships into our repertoire. We couldn’t have done this without your support!

Internships are next and we’d like you to consider participating by working with an intern next summer. If you are interested in hosting an intern for a couple of weeks, while also supporting our Chapter, please contact us at info@7x24centralvirginiachapter.org. Our Committee Chair, Dave Mulholland will contact you with details. Since we believe that COVID will still be around next summer, the intern’s projects need to be virtual. In the event it is safe to have “in-person” interns next summer we will certainly support that.

We will offer two internship opportunities, a two-week and four-week program. To offset the costs of the intern, we will be asking our host companies to help sponsor the student. More details to follow. The Internship program runs from the third week of May until the first week of August, a ten-week period.

As you can imagine it takes an enormous amount of planning to ensure a successful program. Proper scheduling is crucial and we need host companies. If you are interested in hosting an intern or know of any data center related business that would benefit from an intern, please email info@7x24centralvirginiachapter.org. We will need you to submit your written commitment by the end of December.

On behalf of the Board, Congratulations to Dave Mulholland, our Education Committee Chair, for bringing this vision to fruition through his hard work and dedication to bridging the resource gap.

A special thank you to everyone who participated in our 2020 Fall Golf Tournament. It’s your support that allows us to fund these important initiatives.

Plans are underway for the 2021 Fall tournament and we hope to have an announcement in the next few weeks.
